mi_bВ Британии некоторые бюрократические действия, вроде получения нового паспорта, требуют чтобы заявка была заверена несколькими "людьми уважаемой профессии", которые поручатся, что заявителя действительно так и зовут или что он добропорядочный человек ("of good character"). "уважаемой профессии" - это мой (неудачный) перевод "has professional standing". Есть специальный официальный список профессий, которые считаются "уважаемыми", некоторые неочевидные я примерно перевел:
